I am Tim Gunn {Make it Work!}

I love  Tim Gunn.  I love how he comes in and makes that face and rests his chin on hand and says ” I’m not loving this.” , deals the devastating blow and then says “make it work people” and leaves.  And then they do. Most of the time. From time to time I wish Tim Gunn would come to me and look at my process and tell me to “make it work”. Not likely. So in the next few weeks I am becoming my own Tim Gunn. My business has grown much faster than I ever anticipated and that is as much from my hard work as it is from the support and generosity of clients who have believed in me enough to recommend me to their family and friends.  In the whirl of all this hustle and bustle I’ve concentrated on getting the actual photography work done and have not had the time to take a hard look at my processes. From Dec 21- Jan 4 I am taking a little retreat time to take a look at how I can work things better next year to make things easier on my clients and myself. On tap so far are a newly designed site with online proofing and ordering and an online preview for album designs. I am also in the process of designing a lot of info sheets/brochures etc to answer questions ranging from “What should I wear” right down to “How long should it take to get my enlargements back”.  Also, please say a quick prayer for me in that time as I tackle moving all my crazy scraps of paper and receipts over to Quickbooks ( I think I felt a tear already!). Weddings are an awesome time but they are also a stressful time too. For a lot of my couples, I am the only person they hire and actually am in touch with all the way through the process.  If that relationship means that I can offer extra help and guidance along the way, it’s my privilege!  Most of you at some time have looked at me and said ” What do I do now, this is my first time doing this!??”. Well let’s see if I can’t make it a little easier!
